The Alternate was created and founded by Artist, Hairstylist, and Designer Tavia Eckhart. She’s inspired by dark fairytales, vampires of the 90’s 2000’s, 90’s music fashion and media, mermaids, artists like Frida Kahlo, witches, goblins, monsters, and fairies of course.

Much like a little Tinker Bell Tavia is attracted to shiny objects off in the distance that glimmer and sparkle her brain into inspiration. Some objects in her pieces are found and or gifted by other magical creatures. Most pieces are one of a kind and handmade by her.

Our mission is straightforward: bring everyday magic into the wardrobes of cool people and make a difference while doing it . Punks, goths, dolls, gays, they’s, metalheads, magical forest creatures, vampires and more! And she plans to do it in the most authentic way possible; no third parties, no big business, supporting the US post office, and donating to local and national charities with special launches.
