Hi! I’m Tavia

I have been a stylist for 4 years and I have been working in the beauty industry since 2018 with body care, skincare, and makeup brands. Doing hair runs in my jeans. I am a third generation haircutter with my grandparents and several family members all being barbers for all of my life. My aunt still owns our family shop in Brentwood, CA.

As an artist I entered this industry to push the boundaries of what “beauty” means and I have a somewhat obsessive passion for hair and hair science. My current long term goals are to become a salon-owner and a certified cosmetic chemist or trichologist. In my free time I run a small jewelry and accessories business called The Alternate. I love all things alternative fashion and punk, music and attending shows, cozy games and crafting, and cooking gourmet meals.

I am proudly neurodivergent and queer and value honesty, love, and true community over all things. My chair is a safe space for all. I do not offer gendered pricing (no pink tax for you) and do not allow discrimination against any client in my chair. I believe the beauty world needs more spaces like this, where everyone is welcome and kindness and respect are #1.

If I feel a service will compromise the integrity of your scalp or hair health I will gladly explain why offer alternate services and take you through it step by step, but I will not damage your scalp or hair for a trend or just because you are paying me. I can rightfully refuse damaging services to clients who I feel will not benefit from them.
